to the ABB Energy Saving Calculator.
This tool will allow you to work out
exactly how much you can save by replacing a fixed speed damped or throttled centrifugal load with a
variable speed drive controlled solution.
You can specify up to 5 different applications, including
multiples of each type. You may be surprised by exactly how much you can save.
Replacing a single 400kW
motor damped to 70% power with a variable speed drive solution can save over £25,000 per annum, the
cost of the drive being paid back in less than half a year. A saving of over £200,000 after 10 years.

First of all click here to open a printable form that you can use to fill in all the
values needed to perform the energy saving calculation.
Next go to the 'Data Entry' page and enter in the values you've collected on the form.

Once you have entered all the values, click the 'Calculate' button to generate the 'Executive
Summary'. This lists, for each application, the energy (in kWh), the CO2 emissions (in
tonnes)
and the cost saving (in pounds). If you have specified
more than one application then each of these will be detailed. The 'Executive Summary' also tells you,
for each specified application, the drive required and the payback time.
